I'm pretty terrible at keeping up with this weekly challenge thing... Anyway, this is my submission for *megoomba Weekly Fanart Challenge, that she's holding. [link] This week, the theme was Avatar: The Last Airbender and I thought I might as well try to draw something since the finale will be playing this week (aka a few minutes from now).

I've never actually been able to catch up with the show, but from the few episodes I managed to watch, I think Mai was my favorite character. But from what I'm getting from the fandom, she's also one of the most disliked characters. A little fact that made me laugh. Either way, I thought she still pretty cool because she seemed like the kind of character that too many blow off before having a chance to scratch her surface. But maybe I just have a thing for the "silent, yet strong" type of characters.

Anyway, I'm rather happy with how this came out. I couldn't help but mess around and give Mai a brighter color scheme with her clothes. I think her skin tone is suppose to be lighter too, but I really don't like shading pale skin so I chose a darker color. I also omitted her sleeve because I really didn't want to draw them, laziness at it's best. So yeh, considering I sketched this Sunday and slowly dragged my feet all this week to have it finished, I'm happy with the result.

I hope you guys enjoy! And if you excuse me, I have some popcorn to pop! Harharhar~ =D

Very good m'dear! I too have never really stuck to the show, but anytime I watched it, I enjoyed it.

On a related note, M Night Shamalayn (spelling? where we're going we don't need spelling...) is directing a live-action avatar:the last airbender movie. So yeah... along with Akira, Astroboy, and Dragonball movies, I'd say anime movies are hitting hollywood hard!

Oh wow a live action avatar? :wtf: M. Night Shamalyn, really? That'll be...interesting...

hm thanks for bringing my attention to that, I wasn't aware that there was going to be a live action movie.

Heh heh Mai was my favorite character when she first came in actually. I like Toph too, though. Great job

Thank you! =D I always had a hard time figuring out Nickelodeon's schedule... It always felt so random to me. But yeah, I agree with you about enjoying it anytime I got a chance to watch it.

Yeah, a friend of mine mentioned something about a live-action Avatar movie being in the works. Let's just hope M. Night Shyamalan doesn't try adding a little twist, as my friend also mentioned. Harhar~
But I don't know, I'm a little sad that there are going to be movies of those animes though. It seems like Hollywood will do anything to make a buck. Is it really necessary to make a live-action movie out of Akira, when it already was a movie in the first place? Hm... That's just my thoughts on anime hitting Hollywood thing.

From what I could understand, each character had something that made them likable. Even if it was a good or bad trait, it seemed like one could quickly find a character they could relate to one way or another. =D But anyway, thank you so much!
